John has membership status with the Institute of Engineers Australia, Association of Consulting Structural Engineers Victoria (ACSEV), Australian Geomechanics Society (AGS), Footings and Foundation Society Victoria (FFSV) and Housing Engineering Design and Research Association (HEDRA). He has also completed specific construction industry training including Red Card, Confined Space Entry, Occupational Health and Safety Representative, Falls from Height and Contractor Management.

Terry Stevens

Senior Structural Engineer

BE (Civil), Grad. Dip. in Education, Registered Building Practitioner (Civil) EC 1636

Terry has been a practising consulting structural engineer for 35 years. He has worked on a wide variety of structural engineering projects using an extensive range of construction materials and techniques including straw bale. He has completed numerous post graduate courses in structural engineering and pre-cast and pre-stressed concrete.

He is a member of the Institution of Engineers Australia, as well as being a member of the Association of Consulting Structural Engineers of Victoria and a member of the Footings and Foundations Society of Australia.

Cheryl Fitzgerald, CPA

Business Manager

BBus (Accounting), Grad Dip (Risk Mgt), Grad Cert (Compliance)

Cheryl has a background in governance, risk, audit and compliance. As well as overseeing SGP’s administration and finance, Cheryl assists with compliance and reporting on client projects. She is a Certified Practising Accountant and a member of professional associations including Australian Institute of Company Directors, GRC Institute, Risk Management Institute of Australia, Governance Institute of Australia and Australasian Mutuals Institute.

Owen Murphy

Civil / Structural Engineer

BE (Civil) Hons

Owen has been with SGP for over four years, working predominately in the field of civil design and drafting. Through his work with SGP Owen has gained civil engineering experience in the fields of:

  • Water and sewer extensions – residential and commercial
  • Drainage design – residential and commercial
  • Pavement design – commercial access and parking; heavy vehicle access and loading bays
  • Residential and commercial slab design – strip footings with infill; raft slabs; waffle pod slabs
  • Retaining walls
  • Wind bracing
  • Drafting – multiple prestressed and reinforced concrete bridges for government, local councils and water authorities; potable water treatment / supply systems

Lachlan Pittaway

Graduate Engineer

Lachlan commenced with SGP in April 2017 predominately in drafting / detailing and structural engineering and has gained the following experience:

  • Residential and commercial slab design – strip footings with infill; raft slabs; waffle pod slabs
  • Structural detailing of connections in steel and timber
  • Retaining walls
  • Wind bracing

Kate is the friendly face at reception and brings a high level of customer service to every client interaction. Her engineering background and attention to detail keeps SGP’s jobs organised and the office running professionally.
